All-New 5.7L and 6.6L V8 Engines
For 2027, Silverado 1500 buyers can choose among four powertrains. The Enhanced TurboMax receives a substantial output increase, the 3.0L Duramax remains the diesel option, and two new Gen-6 Small Block V8s bring back the 350- and 400-cubic-inch displacements in modern form. Rather than treating one engine as the universal answer, the lineup is designed around different combinations of output, trailering, payload and driving range.
The new V8 architecture uses a longer piston stroke, higher compression, larger throttle diameters and tuned intake runners. It also adds combined direct/port fuel injection and a new lubrication system with a variable oil pump and on-engine oil cooler. GM expects more than 1.5 million real-world validation miles by launch.

3.0L I-6 Diesel
More Displacement
The Gen-6 V8s move to 5.7L and 6.6L using a 6 mm increase in piston stroke.
More Airflow
Larger throttle diameters and tuned intake runners are designed to support the higher output.
Dual-Fuel Injection
Direct injection and port fuel injection work together across different operating conditions.
New Lubrication System
A variable oil pump, integrated oil cooler and revised oil feed points support pressure consistency.
Important: Maximum towing and payload figures vary by cab, bed, drivetrain, trim, equipment and packages. Passenger, cargo and accessory weight can reduce available trailering and payload capacity.
